Andrei Skripkin was detained yesterday in Minsk on suspicion of the murder of Mikhail Yakhontov, a former top manager of the bankrupt Smolensk Bank, and his family. Now Skripkin was found dead in a Belarusian detention center. According to TASS, the suspect in the triple murder committed suicide.

The bodies of Mikhail Yakhontov, 57-year-old former deputy manager of the Moscow branch of Smolensk Bank, his 39-year-old wife, and their 8-year-old son were found on October 26 in a Moscow apartment. Previously, Yakhontov was tried for embezzlement and premeditated bankruptcy. And in March 2019, the court found him and three other former top managers of Smolensk Bank OJSC guilty of large embezzlement and deliberate bankruptcy. Yakhontov was sentenced to 6 years in prison. In addition, the court ruled to recover more than 8.4 billion Russian rubles from four managers.
