Former political prisoner Mikhail Zhamchuzhny was detained in Vitsebsk today, the Viasna Vitsebsk reports.

On December 1, he had a court hearing on changes in the requirements of preventive supervision.

In February, Zhamchuzhny was released after six and a half years in prison. He was found guilty of allegedly incitement to deliberately disclosing information constituting an official secret, illegally acquiring funds to secretly obtain information, and bribery.

Zhamchuzhny worked at the Vitsebsk Technological University, ran a laboratory. In 2007, he was illegally sentenced to 5 years in prison under the article “embezzlement by abuse of power”.
