The migrants who returned to Erbil have shared shocking stories about their stay on the Belarusian-Polish border.

A Belsat journalist went to Erbil, a city in northern Iraq, from where the largest number of migrants arrived in Belarus. There, the journalist wrote down the testimonies of torturing migrants.

The former migrants remember our country with horror, stressing that Belarusian law-enforcement officers were treating them inhumanly.

Residents of Erbil said that when they arrived in Belarus, they were met by traders of so-called services who promised that everything would go smoothly, that crossing the border would not be difficult and that it would literally take five minutes. However, everything turned out to be a lie.

"Our interviewees have reported today that they spent two weeks in the Belarusian forests, which they call a jungle. They had to pay a huge amount of money for every step and the smallest service. They were divided into groups and constantly forced to go across the border, it was just coercion, that word was heard all the time. "Go to Poland," the so-called Belarusian security forces were saying. They were setting the dogs on us, threatening us, and beating us very badly."

Two brothers, aged 16 and 24, described the terrible things the Belarusian security officers were doing to the migrants.

"The so-called Belarusian security guards used to throw them into the water to swim across the river. They also forced them to cross the Polish border and beat them severely. They said that one of the women was asking on her knees those men in uniform, the Belarusians, the so-called Belarusian security officers, not to throw her small child into the water. She said she was ready to kiss their boots, so that they wouldn't do it".
