Washington Reacted To Lukashenka's Statements On Crimea

Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland responded to the dictator's words.

Washington is concerned about the increasing dependence of Minsk on the Kremlin and Aliaksandr Lukashenka's statements about the Crimea. This was stated by Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland during a meeting of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.

Washington fears that the increasing dependence of Minsk on the Kremlin poses a potential threat that the Russian military could use Belarus to "march into Ukraine" or to disguise themselves as the Belarusian military.

"We are watching this. It is particularly disturbing that Lukashenka has changed his position on Crimea. He has not recognized Russia's claims to Crimea for a long time, but he changed his line a week ago," Victoria Nuland reported.

We remind that in a recent interview with Dmitry Kiselev, director of the Russian propaganda agency, Aliaksandr Lukashenka said he was going to visit Crimea and was waiting for an invitation from Russia with specifics on the timing.
