"They Poisoned My Family": A Large-Scale Accident at the Water Utility in Beshenkovichy

At least 16 families needed an ambulance.

A large-scale accident occurred at the water supply plant in Beshenkovichy. At least 16 people suffered.

According to the deputy head of the district executive committee V.E. Hryshan, the accident happened on the night of March 30. The new deferrization station, built in 2020, began to receive sewage.

According to Beshenkovichy residents, sewage began leaking into the water supply current as early as Sunday:

"There was an accident at the sewage treatment plant in Beshenkovichy, sewage got into the water back on Sunday. On Monday, the water had a disgusting smell. We could not breathe because of it. However, the water supply was on until Tuesday. There is no exact information, but 16 people are rumoured to be in the hospital. It's mass poisoning. The children got poisoned. A lot of people are having symptoms."

"The accident occurred on the night of March 30, but the water was already unusable from the early morning of 29."

Residents report 16 people needed an ambulance. Victims with less marked symptoms are almost in every apartment in the Molodezhny neighbourhood:

"As of 7 pm, there was information about sixteen people taken to the hospital in a serious condition. All over the city, experts analyzed and took water samples. The situation had not changed by evening, some people now have vomiting and fever."

"Acquaintances from Beshenkovichy confirm information about the water in the Molodezhny neighbourhood. Many people are taken to the hospital with gastrointestinal distress. The school suffered. My acquaintances feel fine. The water supply in their neighbourhood is from a different source".

"All three of us have vomiting, diarrhoea, fever up to 38.1".

"Fever is 37.8. I feel weak and have vomiting. The funniest thing is that I did not even drink the water. I just brushed my teeth."

"They poisoned my family. We live in peacetime, and there are problems with water.

If someone is going to file a complaint, I will join.

"My son didn't drink either. He brushed his teeth in the morning, and as a result, he is in the children's unit and gets a line".

Halina Unukovich, chair of the Beshenkovichy District Executive Committee, announced the drinking water carrying to the neighbourhood.

"Clarification of the situation in Beshenkovichy. The school was not struck; the water supply was promptly shut off, and water delivery is available. There are not many children now. It's vacation. The school camp is working".
