At the beginning of March, almost half of the cars, passing under the cameras, had no proofs of technical inspection.

Checks for the proofs of technical inspection via the cameras of photofixation are carried out selectively. This was announced at a briefing by Deputy Chief of Traffic Police of Belarus Aliaksandr Zanimon, tut.by informs.

We remind that in late March, the traffic police said they had started to send "chain letters" for not passing the tech inspection. However, drivers soon started to have doubts that the system was working in full force: as a rule, "a chain letter" for the technical inspection was sent to those who had been caught for speeding.

- The penalty [for failure to pass the MOT] really exists. It is not a fake. Nowadays, speed recording sensors and public security monitoring systems are used for this purpose, - Aliaksandr Zanimon said.

According to the traffic police, the traffic permit is checked selectively.

- We do not filter all traffic violations to identify the failure to pass the inspection. The task of traffic police is to ensure the presence of technically sound vehicles on the roads, not to bring to administrative responsibility, - Zanimon said.

Deputy Head of traffic police also said that in early March, almost half of cars passing under the cameras were without inspection. Now it is about 18-20%. Therefore, this new system allowed preventing a significant number of violations.

At the moment among all court rulings for not passing tech inspection only 3% were those sentencing to a fine. The rest 97% are warnings.
