The Civil Code of Belarus Is Planned to Be Changed

What norms will appear in it?

The new article of the Civil Code, as reported by kp.by, will provide for additional protection of images of citizens. It will be prohibited to publish photos of a person on the Internet without his consent.

- The article provides that the image of a citizen, his photograph cannot be distributed, transmitted without the consent of the citizen himself, except for those cases if it is not a general photo in a public place, - commented the Minister of Justice Aleh Slizheuski on the STV TV channel.

The changes will also affect the issue of transactions with adolescents aged 14 to 18 years. For such transactions, the consent of one legal representative of the child will be sufficient. The code will also spell out the upper limit for a small household transaction, in which minors can also be participants: these are three basic values or 87 rubles.

In addition, it is assumed that the Civil Code will no longer have an upper limit on the validity of the power of attorney (now it is three years). The parties will be able to determine the required duration of the power of attorney themselves. If it is not specified, the document will be valid for one year by default.

An irrevocable power of attorney will also appear. This means that the document cannot be revoked before it expires.
