Belarusians Come Out To Protest At Austrian Embassy In Warsaw

They demand from the Austrian authorities not to stall on sanctions against the dictator.

Today, the Belarusian diaspora in Warsaw comes out for a spontaneous chain of solidarity at the Austrian Embassy.

The event starts at 17:00. Location: Warsaw, 34 Gagarin Street (ul. Gagarina 34), the Austrian Embassy (Ambasada Austrii).

This was reported on Facebook by the granddaughter of the first leader of independent Belarus, Stanislau Shushkevich, leader of the Belarusian Youth Hub Stanislava Hlinnik.

"Over the year, the Belarusian diaspora has knocked on every government office in every country. We continue to prove that human life is more valuable than any business. And today we must prove it to the citizens of Austria, as they are the ones who can influence their government's decisions on the issue of sectoral sanctions. Austria is the only one among the 27 EU countries that advocates the possibility of continuing trade with the dictator. Sanctions are one of the ways to save lives," wrote Stanislava Hlinnik.

The activist also reminded us that today is the one-year anniversary of Viktar Babaryka's detention. "The chains of solidarity that took to the streets after Viktar Babaryka's arrest stretched across the planet and grew into a powerful network of mutual aid. We are united. And we will win," reminded Stanislava Hlinnik.

After the event there will be a free concert of V&D and belarusian_truestory bands (pl. Zamkowy, 19:00).
