Fourth Wave Of Coronavirus: Belarus Repeats 'Russian Scenario'

The low level of vaccination may play a cruel joke.

There are more and more reports of new infections of coronavirus in Belarus, says Yezhedneunik.

It is not difficult to predict how the situation will develop further, just compare with Russia, where today up to 90% of new infections are registered with "Delta". A steady increase in the incidence rate there began on June 4 and continues to this day. And in just one month, the average sickness level has almost tripled. If at the beginning of June about 9 thousand infections per day were recorded on average throughout the country, now it is more than 25 thousand. At the same time, the mortality has also increased substantially, from an average of 350 deaths a day to 750. At that, the Ministry of Health forecasts an increase until autumn.

In Belarus the situation seems to follow the Russian scenario, although the number of deaths has hardly increased. But this is a purely Belarusian phenomenon. Coronavirus mortality, according to the official data of the Ministry of Health, has never shown significant growth in our country during the entire period of observation. From wave to wave it increased by a maximum of 1-2 deaths per country.

We should note that so far the official Ministry of Health has not spoken about any new growth of infections, let alone about a new fourth wave. However, even the official statistics speaks about it quite eloquently. Especially since the WHO has officially stated that the fourth wave will come on the new crown of the Delta.

We remind that according to the latest data of the world agencies, the vaccination rate in Russia is more than 27% of the population - that is how many people have already been given the two components of the vaccine. In Belarus, the vaccination rate has only reached 7%. However, the rapid growth of infection with the strain of Delta in Russia is associated with non-observance of restrictive measures by the population. In Belarus the population is more law-abiding in this respect, so the growth of morbidity is not so drastic. However, given the low level of vaccination and especially considering that the current vaccines are less effective against Delta, we should expect a more rapid growth of coronavirus infections in the near future.
