Belarusian MIA Databases Still Unavailable: Bad Rumours Have Been Heard

Let’s figure out what is going on in reality.

Since July 8, access to departmental information services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been temporarily suspended. The ministry said that at present, planned preventive work is being carried out on the data transmission network, one of the reasons for the current situation is the abnormal heat, writes onliner.by.

Officially

“Police officers take into account the current situation in their daily work and approach with understanding the assessment of each individual case when citizens apply,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement. “The department's specialists are currently taking all the necessary measures to restore the smooth functioning of services as soon as possible. The information resources are planned to be fully restored within a week.”

The Ministry of Internal Affairs apologizes for the temporary inconvenience.

And the complaints continue

It is difficult to imagine the number of people ultimately affected by this problem. Issuance of license plates, registration, payment of fines, even obtaining passports - everything is put on a forced pause.

“We are an organization. They were supposed to issue license plates for us on Saturday in the traffic police department in Zhdanovichy, but they did not. They said in the window that no one knows when we can receive them. We went to the superiors to swear, as our car is in working condition and cannot be idle for a month. Moreover, we will be fined in terms of leasing for failure to register within ten days,” a reader told the Onliner correspondent.

Rumors spread that work is underway to unite the departmental bases of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus and Russia, but so far these are only rumors. Officially, we recall, it is only said about the planned preventive work.

Another reader reported that it was not possible to get a new passport: according to him, the department for citizenship and migration of one of the district police departments of Minsk told him that the system had broken down throughout the republic, and therefore they could not print out passports.

“I put the car on record on July 9, at the car market in Malinauka. They said that the licence plate will be ready in 2 weeks only,” said another car owner.
