Azaranka Refused To Participate In Olympics
VIKTORYJA AZARANKA

The tennis player was supposed to play in singles, as well as in doubles with Sabalenka.

Belarusian tennis player Viktoryja Azaranka refused to play at the Olympics in Tokyo. She announced this on her Instagram.

"I have made a very difficult decision for me - not to take part in the Olympics in Tokyo. I have many great memories of winning Olympic gold and representing Belarus at the previous games. But despite all the difficulties we face because of the pandemic, I know in my heart that this is the right decision for me and my team," the athlete wrote on her Instagram account.

"I look forward to the 2024 Olympics in Paris to represent Belarus. I wish all athletes safe, healthy and successful games!" she added.

We remind that Azaranka is the 2012 Olympic champion in mixed doubles with Maksim Mirny, bronze medalist in singles; winner of two Grand Slam tournaments in singles (Australian Open 2012, 2013)

At this Olympics, the tennis player was to play in singles as well as in doubles with Aryna Sabalenka.
