Since Beginning Of Year Almost 700 Belarusians Asked For Refugee Status In Poland

The flow of applications reached its peak in May.

In the first half of 2021, most applications for refugee status in Poland were filed by citizens of Belarus - 667 people, reports the Polish Office for Foreigners.

The flow of applications from Belarusians has been increasing since March, reaching its peak in May, when more than 150 people turned for protection.

Belarusians also lead in the number of positive decisions for international protection under refugee status. In the first half of the year, 391 positive decisions were issued. 282 of them were appeals of Belarusians. Absolutely all applications of Belarusian citizens considered during this period were satisfied. Moreover, as the Office for Refugees notes, since August 2020 there has not been a single rejection of the applications from the citizens of Belarus.

The second largest number of applications for refugee status are filed by Russians (465 people), followed by the representatives of Afghanistan (140 people), Ukraine (112 people), Turkey (50 people) and other countries.
