Russia Refuses To Export Gas Through Belarus, Poland Via Yamal-Europe Gas Pipeline?

The main capacities of the Polish section of the Yamal-Europe trunk pipeline, through which the transit of Russian gas to Europe is carried out, was not reserved for next year at the auction.

The auction held on Monday for the sale of pipeline capacity for the 2022 gas year (October 1, 2021 - October 1, 2022) did not end with a capacity reservation. 34,071 million kWh, offered for the entrance to the Polish gas transmission system at the Kondratki point, have not yet been demanded. The auction also offered the capacity of the pipeline for the future until 2026. According to the results of the current trading, capacity after October 1, 2022 was also not reserved.

The long-term agreement between Moscow and Warsaw on the transit of gas from the Russian Federation to the West via the Polish section of the Yamal-Europe pipeline expired on May 17, 2020. The deliveries are now carried out on the basis of Gaz-System's tenders. Last year, at the annual auction, the capacity of the Polish section of this gas pipeline was reserved by about 90%.
