What is going on at the plant?
As of Thursday morning, one of the main shops of Hrodna-Azot "Urea-3" continues to stand idle.
This is reported by the Hrodna-Azot strike committee.
"There is a sharp smell of ammonia near the new checkpoint (they will naturally write that all is well according to the indicators).
There are problems with the turbine. We could not get the reserve turbine running all night," says the strike committee of the enterprise.
On Wednesday, at about 11:25 a.m., there was an unscheduled shutdown of the shop of nitric acid and carbamide-ammonia mixture at Hrodna-Azot. Later in the evening, "Urea-3" stopped as well.
Hrodna Azot is one of the largest enterprises in Belarus. Two shops - Ammonia-4 and Urea-4 - went on overhaul in June.
Experts believe that the shutdown of workshops is associated with the effects of Western sanctions.
We remind that sanctions are imposed on nine Belarusian enterprises, including Belnautakhim, Belshyna, Hrodna Azot , Hrodna Khimvalakno, Lakakraska, Naftan, Polatsk-Stseklavalakno, Belarusian Oil Trading House and Belnautakhim USA.
