The Belarusian Authorities’ Self-Shooting Becomes Regular
Valery Karbalevich

Any conflict in today's Belarus immediately acquires a political character.

Belarus fell into another international scandal. For criticizing the leadership of the Belarusian national athletics team, they tried to expel athlete Krystsina Tsimanouskaya from the Tokyo Olympics to Minsk without her consent. In response, she made a scandal. What conclusions can be drawn here? Valery Karbalevich writes about this in his Telegram channel.

1. The Belarusian authorities’ self-shooting becomes regular. The system is simply programmed into them.

2. An atmosphere has been formed in the country in which any criticism of the authorities, even the leadership of the Belarusian national athletics team, is considered an attempt on the power.

3. All citizens are obliged to unquestioningly carry out any orders from above. People are equated with soldiers who can be forced to perform any task. In our case, athletes were obliged to compete in a different discipline, and objections are perceived as betrayal. For this, a person will be punished at home. This is already something from the North Korean experience.

4. Any conflict in today's Belarus immediately acquires a political character, as evidenced by the comments of the Belarusian state television on this matter.

5. It is unlikely that the idea of the urgent expulsion of the rebellious athlete is an initiative of the leadership of the Belarusian national team at the Olympics. If the scandal has acquired a political character, it means that the decision was made at the political level. It turns out that the more Lukashenka interferes in sports, the more harm is done. I immediately recall the story of the visit of the President of the International Ice Hockey Federation Rene Fasel to Minsk and the cancellation of the World Ice Hockey Championship.
