Political Scientist: In the Next Episode, Lukashenka’s Inner Circle May Be Destroyed

The dictator will start with those who saw his condition in August 2020.

Political scientist Dzmitry Balkunets in a conversation with Lenta.ru explained the "policy" of Lukashenka. The expert predicts that the repressions in the country will continue, and soon the turn will come to the closest circle of Lukashenka.

According to the expert, the policy of repression was especially evident after last year's protests in the country, when they began to identify those who signed against Lukashenka for opposition candidates.

“This especially affected civil servants, teachers, students,” the political scientist noted. “Many professional teachers, medics of international fame were fired just because they dared to speak out. It's the same with the athletes - sports functionaries did not let those who refused to sign a letter in support of Lukashenka to the Olympics.”

“In many ways, Lukashenka is a man of the Soviet past, therefore, Stalin is a significant figure for him, to whom he is going to erect a monument. The logic is similar,” Balkunets summed up.

The political scientist added that, according to the same Stalinist logic, those who organized these persecutions will be next in the line of repression. “In the next episode,” the president’s inner circle may be destroyed, especially, according to the expert, those who saw his condition in August last year.
