The act of dedication is a request for intercession and salvation from all evil.
Metropolitan of Minsk-Mahiliou Archbishop Jozef Staneuski dedicated Belarus to the Bialynichy Mother of God. This happened at the end of the all-Belarusian celebrations, which took place on September 17-18 in Bialynichy in the Mahiliou region, the website catholic.by writes.
The dedication was read at the end of the Mass at the old Catholic cemetery. All the acting Catholic bishops of Belarus, headed by the chairman of the Conference of Catholic bishops of the Vitsebsk bishop Aleh Butkevich, as well as the representative of Pope Francis in Belarus Apostolic Nuncio Ante Jozic, took part in it.
The act of dedication is a request for the intercession of the Mother of God and for salvation from all evil: spiritual, moral and physical.
The event took place in front of an ancient copy of the icon of the Bialynichy Holy Mother of God, specially delivered to Bialynichy. This copy of the famous icon, which is considered lost, was made after the miracle of the Mother of God during the war in 1660 at the Lyakhavichy Castle. It is believed that it was the icon of the Bialynichy Mother of God that helped the defenders of the castle to escape from the Moscow invaders.
