Now the local prosecutor's office is dealing with the case of the dead migrants.

Last Sunday, the Polish border guards said that the bodies of three migrants were found in the border area. The Zerkalo.io portal has collected everything that is known about the incident on the border with Belarus.

Last Sunday, Polish border guards reported that the bodies of three people were found in the border area. According to the Polish newspaper Wyborcza, one of them is an Iraqi citizen.

His body was found in the village of Dworzysko (region - Podlasie), which is located near three borders - Polish, Lithuanian, and Belarusian in the middle of the Augustow Forest.

The man was part of a group of three Iraqis. Most likely, according to Wyborcza, death came from hypothermia.

The other two migrants were taken to Suwalki and Augustow hospitals. This group of migrants was 10 kilometers away from the Polish-Lithuanian border, from where they could get to Polish territory. When the border guards found them, one of the Iraqis was already dead.

Two more bodies - a citizen of the Congo and a citizen of Cameroon - were also found on the territory of the Podlaskie Voivodeship.

Now the local prosecutor's office is dealing with the case of the dead migrants.

The incident was commented on by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on his Facebook page:

“Services and the prosecutor’s office are working on the spot, which is investigating the causes of the tragic incident,” wrote the Prime Minister of Poland. "It is necessary to study the possible connection of the aforementioned dramatic events with the Belarusian provocative actions that are now taking place on our eastern border."

The representative of the President of Poland Andrzej Dera said that, in his opinion, the tragedy on the Polish-Belarusian border occurred because of the policy of the Belarusian authorities. Andrzej Dera said that this is due to the decision of the Belarusian authorities to send migrants to the border with Poland despite the state of emergency in the border regions of Poland.

“The tragedy happened because the Belarusian side simplifies border crossing. Despite the state of emergency, these people somehow get through. Firstly, they are breaking the law. Secondly, they do not know this area, they end up in places where it is difficult to get out. It's very cold in Poland. For people who are not used to such temperatures, this is already a killer temperature. As a result, this led to a tragedy,” he said.

As the newspaper Kurier Poranny reports, last Sunday, the border guards, together with the military, police, and fire brigade, carried out a rescue operation in swamps in the Suprasl River flood near the Polish-Belarusian border. 8 migrants were rescued there. Seven people are citizens of Syria, one is from Congo.

The rescue operation unfolded on the morning of September 19 near the village of Pienki. Three women and five men could not get out of the swamp.

Border guards and rescuers took the men to a dry place, where medics took them. A helicopter was also called to help.

Seven people were taken to the hospital - 5 men and 2 women. Another migrant woman is now under the protection of border guards.
