The Struggle against Lukashenka Is the Struggle for Independence
Vital Tsyhankou

It seems that we need to put an end to some artificial discussions.

The first logical conclusion. The main threat to Belarusian independence is the Lukashenka regime.

It was the Lukashenka regime that destroyed the Belarusian language culture, and the Belarusian civil society from 1995 to 2021. Belarusian schools are being closed, state TV channels are being translated into Russian, most of the state regional and district newspapers are being translated into Russian, concerts, and books by the best artists are being banned. This government was part of all possible pro-Russian unions, voluntarily created a "Union State," focused the economy on Russia, sold the gas transportation system to Moscow, the Belarusian army actually made it part of the Russian one and stuffed 50 Russian TV channels into the Belarusian information space. This government has been crawling on its knees to Russia (at different speeds) for all 27 years, regardless of the presence or absence of Western sanctions.

This leads to the second simple and logical conclusion. The struggle against Lukashenka is the struggle for independence. After all, Lukashenka is the most important guarantor of dependence on Russia.

Hence, the third conclusion is logical. Any means of fighting against the regime are justified and desirable. We can discuss their directions and effectiveness, but everything that undermines and weakens the existing regime is in favor of Belarus. After all, the regime, unfortunately, has nothing left - from education to the political system, from government bodies to law enforcement agencies - that could be left unchanged in future Belarus.

You can imagine some Germans in 1945, who were painfully discussing what will happen to Germany when everything around is destroyed and collapses. Well, everything will be fine with Germany if there is no Hitler in it. As history has proved.
