Svetlahorsk Welding Electrode Plant Is Step Away From Shutting Down

Have the managers of the plant and the district decided to take the whole city out on strike?

The Svetlahorsk Welding Electrode Plant has laid off at least 300 employees for the year. Another 100 will be fired before the new year, writes the telegram channel of the "Belarusian Association of Workers" (BOR).

Last year, employees were having vacation without pay for two months. This year, they also plan to send the staff home.

The reason is that the owners don't want to pay people their salaries. Previously 90% of the export went to Russia, but now the neighbors have refused the deliveries and canceled the contracts.

There is no work in the district. Even at the mall, only Santa and Fix-price are left.

Apparently, the leaders of the plant and the district have decided to take the whole city on strike.
