Ylva Johansson: Lukashenko's regime is in a desperate state
YLVA JOHANSSON.

Sanctions are working.

The European Union will tighten visa procedures for Belarusian officials. This is a response to the pressure that Minsk is putting on Brussels, reports Euronews.

Belarus has been accused of sending migrants over its Western borders in order to destabilize neighboring countries and the entire Union. The European Commissioner for Home Affairs calls it state human trafficking and believes it also serves as a source of income for Lukashenka:

"Now we see a completely new phenomenon by Lukashenka," said Ylva Johansson. "His regime is in a desperate state after the painful EU sanctions were imposed on him. This man is trying to invite or import migrants, who have to pay a lot of money for it - at least 10 thousand euros each to get them to cross the border or even push them into the European Union. They are deceived by false promises."
