Ukrainian Army Took Control Of Lyman: What Is Happening In The City

"The 81st Separate Air Mobile Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with a unit of the National Guard of Ukraine, the Kulchitsky battalion, liberated and took control of Lyman City in the Donetsk region," the Ukrainian military said.

The Ukrainian defenders dropped the Russian flag from the Lyman City council building and raised the state flag of Ukraine.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the liberation of five settlements near Lyman City

The Eastern Group of Forces speaker, Serhiy Cherevaty, said that five settlements near Lyman had been liberated, and stabilization measures were continuing there. We are talking about such settlements as Yampil, Novoselivka, Shandriholove, Drobysheve, and Stavka. According to him, there are about 5000-5500 occupiers encircled by the Ukrainian forces. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have already eliminated many of them, so the exact figure is still unknown.

“Indeed, our data showed that the Russian group (in the Lyman area - ed.) consists of about 5000-5500 occupiers in the region. However, active hostilities "minus" their combat strength, as well as some groups that tried to break through. That is, the exact number of Russians still requires analysis in order to announce the exact figure," Cherevaty said.

Ukrainian army entered Lyman

The network first published a video with the Ukrainian military, who are installing a flag on a ceiling in Lyman of the Donetsk region. The video appeared in Telegram channels. As a politician and volunteer Yuriy Mysiahin wrote on his page, the Ukrainian army is confidently advancing deep into the city. He posted footage of the National Guard brigade moving deeper into the city. The video also shows the destroyed Russian military equipment.

Also, videos have appeared in public, in which the Armed Forces of Ukraine are already moving around the city. The footage shows the destroyed military equipment of the Russians and the occupiers themselves, who fled from the Lyman and did not have time.

Later, the information that the Ukrainian defenders were already in Lyman, Donetsk region, was officially confirmed. Serhiy Cherevaty, a representative of the Eastern Group of Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that battles with the Russian army were going on outside the city.

“The information and the video that you saw with the stele is true. We are already in Lyman. But there is fighting. Details will be over time," Cherevaty said.

Occupiers steal cars from civilians and flee the city

A video was posted on social media of how the Ukrainian military "covered" a column of "refugees" from Lyman. The video shows a lot of destroyed vehicles and Russian occupiers who tried to escape. According to the invaders themselves, the convoy tried to get out of the "cauldron" by cars. But something went wrong.
