On October 3, in the Kobryn court, a verdict was passed under Article 370 of the Criminal Code ("Desecration of state symbols") to political prisoner Kiryl Davidzyuk for tearing down Lukashenka’s flag that hung at the entrance to the store, Viasna writes.

The guy was detained on July 29, 2022 in Kobryn. He entered the store and hit a red-green flag hanging at the entrance with his head. Kiryl tore it off and threw it to the ground. His actions were recorded by the store's security camera.

After the arrest, Kiryl was placed in the Baranavjchy pre-trial detention center #6. The trial was held in the out-of-courtroom format on the territory of the Kobryn District Department of Internal Affairs, and lasted one day. The prosecutor requested a sentence of 1 year and 6 months in prison. According to a previous conviction, Kiryl had an unserved term of one and a half years of liberty restriction. By adding up the terms, the state prosecutor requested a sentence of two years of imprisonment.

On October 3, the Kobryn court found Kiryl Davidzyuk guilty under Article 370 of the Criminal Code ("Desecration of state symbols") and sentenced him to imprisonment in a general regime colony for a period of two years.
