Russian Fleet Proves Useless

Russian Fleet Proves Useless
OLEKSANDR KOVALENKO

The Kremlin is losing the naval battle.

We are now seeing regular reports that the Russian Black Sea flotilla is launching warships into the open sea that are not carriers of the Caliber missile launchers.

Well, these messages are quite meaningful, but they should be treated with a grain of salt.

First of all, the absence of a Caliber launcher on the high seas does not mean that there is no threat of launching these missiles on the territory of Ukraine. During these months, the Russian command has committed many insane and criminal acts, and therefore, what can possibly stop them from launching a Caliber missile complex from the bay of Sevastopol?

In addition, do not forget about diesel-electric submarines of the Warszawianka type, which are also carriers of the Caliber missile system and tracking which is much more problematic than surface objects.

On the other hand, the Russian command does not take ships carrying Calibers into the open sea, since they believe that unmanned kamikaze boats of a certain party, involved in the recent incident in the Sevastopol Bay, are hunting for caliber carriers.

That is, the great and powerful maritime superpower is trembling in a corner, tail between its legs, fearing hits by small boats? Fear at the level of desperation?

The funny thing is that the Russian Black Sea flotilla during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine was not able to implement a single task of any significance in the tactical and strategic sense, but only suffered defeat.

To date, the Russian fleet has not shown itself in any effective way in the war against Ukraine. It was unable to carry out paratrooper landings in Odesa and the region. Then there was the destruction and damage of the Russian LST group in Berdyansk. After Berdyansk, the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet found itself at the bottom of the Black Sea, destroyed by the weapons, which the entire fleet was supposed to protect against! Then there was Snake Island. The incident with the most guarded object in the temporarily occupied Crimea — the Crimean bridge. And now, a certain state of emergency in the bay of Sevastopol, after which Russian ships do not stick their noses into the Black Sea at all.

Russia, which calls itself a great maritime power, is, in fact, losing a naval battle to a country that does not have a fleet as such. The country which has not hundreds of anti-ship systems in service — you can actually count them with the fingers of one hand.

During this war, the Russian fleet turned out to be perhaps the most useless branch of the armed forces. The so-called “great” naval power with an absolutely useless fleet, which from time to time is dishonored by pinpoint slaps in the face, is now simply driven into a corner.
