Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk Helps Political Prisoners Not To ‘Break Down’ In Prison

The freed co-prisoner are grateful to the activist of the European Belarus.

A former political prisoner contacted the journalists of the Palitviazynka project and told that Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk, the activist of the European Belarus Civil Campaign, helped her in colony No. 24.

“I was not alone in the colony, because Polina Sergeevna Sharendo-Panasyuk was with me. She taught me how to stay healthy in those conditions. Palina is deprived of everything that can be deprived under article 113 of the Penal Enforcement Code.

The entire detachment was opposed to Palina, because she ignored the majority and helped only a few do their homework (some prisoners completed their studies at school). Palina was given one penalty after another, she treated someone with an apple - again a penalty. Palina Sairheeuna did not sign a single paper of obligations and acquaintances about the recovery there. She considered it all illegal and considers keeping us there as political repression. She was telling this right in the face of the administration of the colony and its employees.

Palina did not fulfil a single request from the jailors of the colony when they tried to somehow command her. Palina was turning away and leaving like a robot. ‘Indeed, it’s their job, they made the choice and the path on their own,’ she told me.

Among the political prisoners, there were also those who made tricks for their co-prisoners and framed them, thus collaborating with the administration of the colony. Palina told me that no one will even shake their hand and that their nasty things would definitely come up. And Palina turned out to be right more than once,” said the former political prisoner.

Recall, Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk, the political prisoner and activist of the European Belarus Civil Campaign, who is detained in colony No. 24 for recidivists (Zarechcha, Homiel region), was recently placed in a cell-type premise (CTP). The activist of the European Belarus spent 80 days in the ShIZO (penalty cell) over the previous four months of imprisonment in the colony.
