Ukrainian MIA Revealed The Purpose Of Shoigu's Visit To Belarus

There were two goals.

The visit of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to Minsk may have two goals. This is a psychological operation and pushing the Belarusian dictator Aliaksandr Lukashenka to take specific actions to support the war against Ukraine.

RBC-Ukraine reported with reference to the adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs Vadim Denisenko on the air of a TV show.

“I think there are two things. Firstly, this is really a psychological operation against Ukraine. Because any such visit will cause a lot of anxiety and other psychological things in our country. On the other hand, it is pushing Belarus to take appropriate actions,” Denisenko said.

He assumed that there were talks between the parties about an even greater reopening of Belarusian weapons for transfer to the Russians.

“Because, since June, the Republic of Belarus has become one of the main suppliers of weapons to Russia,” Denisenko said.

However, he drew attention that there is no reason to talk about the strike group and the readiness of repeated offensive actions of the Russian Federation from this side despite the fact that the Russians are increasing their grouping in Belarus.

Recall that yesterday, December 3, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu arrived on an unannounced and sudden visit to Minsk.

During the visit, he signed a protocol with the head of the Belarusian Defense Ministry Viktar Khrenin on "amending the agreement between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation On the Joint Military Ensuring of Regional Security".

The Russian minister also met with Lukashenka. "Belarusian and Russian troops are training as a single army to repel any aggression," Lukashenka said during the talks.

According to the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Shoigu probably flew to Belarus to "push" further support for Russia in the war.
