Focused Specialists In Kindergartens To Have 1.5 Times Bigger Load

The editors of the portal zerkalo.io were contacted by teachers from several kindergartens. They said that at the beginning of next year, all focused specialists (defectologists, teachers of physical education and music) of preschool institutions in Belarus will be made change their working hours and workload, while the salary will remain the same. Teachers began collecting signatures against such a decision and wrote collective letters to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, as well as to the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers.

As the teachers said, they and their colleagues learned about the new project of the Ministry of Education in December last year. It was developed "in order to optimize the staffing of preschool education institutions and special preschool institutions."

—Not all experts are aware that there may be some changes. For example, in Vitsebsk, they informed people in two districts, but one more district is still uninformed. We were told that the essence of the project is as follows: they want to change the mode of operation and workload for focused specialists of preschool institutions — heads of physical education, music teachers, speech pathologists. They plan to increase working hours by about 1.5 times, and increase the workload by as much, while leaving the salary the same. For example, now the music teachers have 4 groups of children at their bet, but they plan to make 6-7. The working day at the rate increases from 24 hours to 30 per week.

The salary rate of the music director under the new regulation, if adopted, will depend on the number of groups in the kindergarten garden.

According to teachers, judging by the draft resolution, they plan to calculate the salary of music and physical education teachers in kindergartens depending on the number of groups, not children. As a result, as the experts themselves say, this will reduce wages and lead to a reduction in workers in kindergartens.

— For example, in Vitsebsk a focused specialist with 10 years of experience, the first qualification category and a workload of 1.25 wages earns 600-700 rubles. About 500 go to the rate. If a new staffing table is introduced, then it will no longer be 1.25 rates, but just a single pay rate, experts say.

— You see, people work in these positions just because they have a short working day - 6-7 hours. You can find more jobs. And if these changes are accepted, then the meaning of the work is lost. In addition, for example, music workers have a big load on their vocal cords — they cannot work hard. At the same time, one must understand that such a specialist is a teacher, a decorator, an accompanist, and a screenwriter all rolled into one. Plus rehearsals, plus constant work in search of new musical material, drawing up lesson plans and so on.

Teachers in different regions of Belarus began to collect signatures against this innovation. They also wrote a letter to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. An answer came from the department (dated February 10) that the request from teachers was forwarded to the Ministry of Education.

There, they gave no comment on the existence or development of a draft new resolution to journalists. They also noted that so far teachers have not applied to the Ministry of Education.
