Member of the Latvian Parliament Juris Jurašs relinquished his mandate and joined the Ukrainian Territorial Defense in order to defend the country. This is reported by the Latvian edition LSM.
“Ukraine now is struggling not only for its freedom but also for ours, in particular, Latvia and the European Union. "I believe that it is our duty to do everything possible for our victory," Mr Jurašs said in an interview with Hromadske.
Jurašs graduated from the Latvian Police Academy and worked for several years at the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau.
Earlier in Latvia, banks froze about 8 million euros of Russian assets. One individual and 15 legal entities were found there, which are not directly included in the sanctions lists, but the affiliation or control of sanctioned entities over these individuals was established, in connection with which their funds were frozen.
