Belarusian journalist and writer Aliaksandr Tamkovich died in Minsk after a long illness. He was 59 years old, his daughter reported on Facebook.

Aliaksandr Tamkovich had been lying in hospital for the last few weeks. The famous writer and journalist was struggling with a serious illness. He passed away on March 4.

Aliaksandr Tamkovich worked for many years in the Free News newspaper. He created series of books "The Modern History in Persons". He was one of the authors of the books "100 Outstanding Figures of Belarusian Culture" and wrote a book about Chernobyl NPP.
