A car crashed into the gates of the Russian embassy in Romania and caught fire; the driver of the car died.

"The fire happened on Wednesday morning near the Russian embassy in Bucharest. The driver drove into the fence around the building. As a result of the collision, the car caught fire,; the driver could not survive," Digi 24 channel reports.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire. There were no passengers in the cabin.

According to the channel's sources, after the collision, a gendarme on duty outside the embassy asked the driver to leave the car. He refused and shouted something to the law enforcer, after which fire started.

The speed at which the car drove into the fence was very high. The car was able to break through the fence, the TV channel reported. According to the TV channel, the fence was installed outside the embassy amid protests that have been taking place outside the building over the past few weeks.
