Kazakhstan Decided To Clamp Down On Attempts Of Belarus And Russia To Bypass Sanctions

A member of parliament has proposed to develop urgent measures to regulate international road transportation.

Kazakhstan has stated about the attempts of Belarus and Russia to circumvent sanctions. Member of the lower house of parliament Maksat Ramankulov proposed to develop urgent measures to regulate international road transportation. According to him, a number of companies from Belarus and Russia are transferring their business to Kazakhstan because of the sanctions, and there are problems, reports euroradio.fm.

"Russian and Belarusian companies register in Kazakhstan, get a Kazakh number plate for heavy vehicles, get their permits... and enter and leave Europe freely under the flag of Kazakhstan", he said.

In this way, the Belarusian and Russian companies "create competition and squeeze Kazakhstani companies out of the market, reducing the incomes of local companies and the population", since Belarusians and Russians work on the trucks.

There is no doubt that the Kazakhstani authorities will take measures "to protect national economic interests".

As is known, since April EU countries banned truckers with vehicles registered in Belarus and Russia from transporting cargo through their territory (including transit). It was immediately reported that the sanctions would be circumvented using Kazakhstan. But the authorities of that country also said at the time that they would not help, as they did not want their country to be "subject to secondary sanctions by the US and the EU".
