A large-scale fire has broken out in the industrial zone of the town of Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod Region, Russia. A railway tanker containing solvent caught fire in the open area of the Igumnovo station.

The fire broke out at the Caprolactam plant and spread to the industrial part of the town along the Avtozavodskoye Highway.

"According to the Unified Duty and Dispatch Service, a cistern has caught fire somewhere in the 8th production area of JSC Caprolactam. Fire brigades are on the scene. There is no threat to settlements and population," Russian media reported.

The Russian Emergencies Ministry said that the preliminary area of the fire is about 2,000 metres.

The videos posted on the social media show a heavy fire and powerful tongues of flames and black clouds of smoke rising upwards.
