Ukraine Wants to Ban the Belarusian Ruble

The bill is registered in the Verkhovna Rada.

The Verkhovna Rada has registered three bills banning the circulation of the Russian ruble in Ukraine. According to one of the drafts, the National Bank of Ukraine will gain the right to restrict the currency of other countries, contributing to Russia's aggression against Ukraine, in particular, Belarus, zerkalo.io reports with reference to Yurydychna Gazeta.

In particular, draft law No. 7334 suggests prohibiting the use of the Russian ruble within Ukraine and for cross-border transfers and transfers for the duration of martial law, withdrawing assets in Russian rubles from civil circulation, and prohibiting the establishment of an exchange rate (cross-rate) of the Russian ruble.

Also, the proposed draft law would authorize the National Bank of Ukraine to extend these restrictions to the currencies of other countries contributing to the Russian Federation's aggression against Ukraine, in particular, Belarus.
