Farewell To Stanislau Shushkevich Continues In Minsk

The funeral mass will begin at the Archcathedral of St. Mary at 12 noon today.

The farewell ceremony for the first leader of independent Belarus, Stanislau Shushkevich, which began last night, continues at the Archcathedral of St. Mary in Minsk (9 Freedom Square), reports Radio Svaboda.

The farewell lasted all night and will end with a mass on May 7. On the first day of the farewell, Stanislau's family members and friends gathered there. There were about 200 people in the hall all the time, and people kept coming.

Former deputies of the Supreme Soviet, Liavon Barshcheuski and Aleh Trusau, were noticed among those present.

7 May:

10.00 - opportunity to say farewell in silence and individual prayer for eternal life for deceased Stanislau;

12.00 - funeral Holy Mass.
