Political Prisoner Mikalai Dziadok Transferred To Prison Regime
MIKALAI DZIADOK

The illegal decision was made by the "court" of Horki district.

Political prisoner Mikalai Dziadok has been transferred to the prison regime. This decision was taken yesterday by the Horki District Court, human rights activists report. Judge Stanislau Liashenka sentenced Mikalai to 2 years and 10 months in prison.

Mikalai met the verdict calmly. He was in a good mood, the news about his transfer did not come as a surprise to him.

Blogger and anarchist Mikalai Dziadok was detained in November 2020. He was charged under three articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus - organization and preparation of actions grossly violating public order (or participation in them), appeals to actions aimed at causing damage to the national security of Belarus and illegal actions in relation to objects whose striking effect is based on the use of flammable substances. Mikalai pleaded not guilty on any of the charges. Nevertheless, in November 2021 he was sentenced to five years in a general regime colony.

However, as early as the end of March, Dziadok was placed in a ward-type room - punished for refusing to go to work. He refused to work in protest. Earlier he had been deprived of the right to receive correspondence, and the administration started putting pressure on the convicts who were contacting him. He was transferred to the ward-type room for four months.
