Kastus Kalinouski’s Unknown Texts Discovered

The discovery was made by a Belarusian historian.

Belarusian historian, professor Ales Smalianchuk, while working at the National Museum of Lithuania, found new Belarusian-language texts in the papers of the Lithuanian Provincial Committee, which was led by Kastus Kalinouski.

The historian wrote the following on his Facebook page:

“The week of research work in the libraries and museums of Vilnius turned out to be fruitful. In the funds of the National Museum of Lithuania, among the materials of the Lithuanian Provincial Committee, several Belarusian-language texts were found, apparently from the environment of Kastus Kalinouski.

The handwriting of some (“Do Ciabie swiaty ojcza…”, a quatrain on the lapel of the sixth issue of “Mużyckaja Praúda”) is similar to Kalinouski’s handwriting…

Even a superficial examination of the documents suggests that at least some of them belong personally to Kastus Kalinouski.”
