China's First 'Attack' On Taiwan Over Pelosi's Visit Becomes Known

China has restricted its trade with Taiwan amid heightened tensions over Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi's visit to the island.

It was reported by Aljazeera, which published an excerpt from a statement of China's Ministry of Commerce.

The agency said the authorities have taken measures "in accordance with the current regulations".

China has stopped exports of natural sand, the main material used in construction, as well as imports of Taiwanese citrus fruits and some fish.

The sanctions against Taiwan will take effect on August 3, 2022.
