Deserter Opens Fire At Special Forces In Russia

A soldier who escaped from the front was found in Russia's Lipetsk region.

Local security forces in Russia's Lipetsk region shot and killed a soldier who had escaped from the war against Ukraine. This is reported by the authorities of the region.

«Dmitry Perov, wanted for unauthorized abandonment of a military unit, was found and eliminated. The situation is under the control of law enforcement agencies. There is no threat to the residents. Investigative measures are being carried out," the statement says.

The Baza telegram channel reports that Perov was shot dead on the territory of his home in the village of Novouglyanka, the Lipetsk region, during an attempt to detain him.

"Perov was leaving the barn at the moment the special forces entered the territory. He was ordered to drop his weapon and lie on the ground. In response, the soldier opened fire. He was killed by return fire," the newspaper writes.

Charter97.org reported earlier that on January 13, 31-year-old Dmitry Perov had run away from the front without permission, having firearms and grenades with him. Russian law enforcers searched for him.
