Budanov: Ukraine Should Have Some Form Of Control Over Postwar Russia
Kyrylo Budanov

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate told about the future of relations with Russia.

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, has told Wirtualna Polska how he sees the future relations between Ukraine and Russia. The head of the MID believes that "it will be a very complicated process."

"It will be a very complicated process. It is interesting that now the Russian information space, first of all the Internet public, but also a part of the opposition, shares the opinion that only the "Putin group" is responsible for this invasion. And society has nothing to do with it. And we are at war with a country where more than two-thirds of the population supported Putin's actions!" Budanov says.

According to him, it is not yet known what future Russia faces, how many elements it will split into and with whom we will have to talk about reparations and bring the perpetrators of crimes to justice.

"Our tasks, Ukraine's tasks are the systemic and state weakening of the Russian Federation. To do this, we must actively enter Euro-Atlantic and European structures: political, economic, security, legal, humanitarian and educational," the MID head says.

He also adds that Ukraine should treat the post-Soviet period "like a terrible dream."

"Finally, we must have some form of control over the new post-war Russian Federation. To ensure that things that happened to Ukraine will never recur," Budanov said.
