Where exactly remains unknown.
Hrodna journalist and cultural manager Pavel Mazheika was transferred from a pre-trial detention center to a reinforced-security penal colony, BAJ reports with a reference to the political prisoner's wife, Iryna Charniauka.
It is not yet known where exactly the journalist will serve his sentence.
In July, Pavel Mazheika and lawyer Julia Yurgilevich were sentenced to six years in prison, accused of facilitating extremist activities by a group of persons based on a preliminary agreement.
According to the case materials, Julia told Pavel in a telephone conversation about her expulsion from the bar and the sentence against Ales Pushkin. The indictment believes that Mazheika gave this information to an unidentified person for publishing on Belsat, which is recognized as an extremist organization. Pavel and Julia pleaded not guilty.
Pavel Mazheika is the founder of the cultural space “City Life Center”. In 2021, an exhibition of works by Ales Pushkin was held in it, because of which the artist was detained and imprisoned for 5 years. In July of this year, Pushkin died in the colony.
