The liberation of Crimea is the end of the war, because further the war simply loses its meaning. The peninsula may become the paramount objective in terms of a counterattack.

Military expert Oleh Zhdanov said in a commentary to Obozrevatel that the Ukrainian Armed Forces might launch a counteroffensive against Crimea, not Donbass.

He also stressed that no one can challenge Ukraine's integrity as of today and the statement that Ukraine is not likely to return Crimea in the near future is untrue.

"As for US politicians, they make their assumptions based on some of their data. But the data is so patchy that even Western intelligence agencies admit: sometimes they are wrong in their information regarding the situation on the front line, the situation in Ukraine, in Russia or around our countries. No one has a hundred percent guarantee that the information is correct," Zhdanov stressed.
