Political Prisoner Pavel Drozd Released

Political prisoner Pavel Drozd was released today. He was convicted in the “case of hacking the computer system of the Minsk City Executive Committee”. He was charged under six articles of the Criminal Code, human rights activists report.

According to the materials of the criminal case, “with the help of malicious software, the accused gained access to the computer systems of the CUE “Center of information technologies of the Minsk City Executive Committee” and the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee, which led to a disruption in the normal operation of enterprises and government agencies, and also these persons copied and deleted files of various formats and entered into them knowingly false information.

On January 28, 2022, the Zavodski district court of Minsk sentenced him to 3.5 years in prison.

Pavel spent 2 years, 3 months and 3 days behind bars. He served his term the Navapolatsk colony #1. Today the political prisoner was released, having fully served his term.
