One B-52 carries half of the "retaliatory strike" used by Russia in the war.

On Monday, March 20, the Russian Defense Ministry ordered the Su-35s to take to the air in response to two U.S. strategic bombers flying over the Baltic Sea toward the Russian border.

This was reported by Reuters.

The newspaper reports that the Russian Defense Ministry spotted on its radars two airborne targets flying toward the Russian border. Later, American B52H bombers were identified.

"The Su-35 fighter jet took to the air to prevent crossing the border. After the foreign planes left, it returned to its base airfield," the publication notes.

"Once again, the U.S. nuclear weapons carrier B-52 strategic bomber practiced a training mission to strike St. Petersburg. One B-52 carries, by the way, half of the "retaliatory strike" which hit the whole Ukraine. Off the Baltic coast, among other things, there is a U.S. Navy missile ship, the Arleigh Burke, which also carries two salvos, summing up to exceed any of the earlier "retaliatory strikes".

Apparently, this is preparation for a Ukrainian offensive in southern Ukraine - a demonstration that NATO has its trump cards for such a move, if the Kremlin decides to respond by raising the stakes. There is no other interpretation of these training flights and demonstration," Russian expert Anatoly Nesmiyan says.
