Hrodna And Machulishchy Bust Main Myth Of Lukashenka Regime
VALER KARBALEVICH

The situation is getting out of control.

According to state media, another terrorist has been neutralized in Belarus. And again a foreigner sent by enemies to disrupt the peaceful labor of the Belarusian people. Before Belarus had time to digest the information explosion around the attack on the plane in Machulishchy by a Ukrainian saboteur, a new “terrorist” wave flooded the country.

These events are intended to confirm Lukashenka's assertion that Belarus is a besieged fortress, surrounded by enemies, inside there are “sleeping extremist cells” that seek to commit terrorist attacks, sabotage, etc.

So, according to official information, on March 19 in Hrodna, as a result of the storming of an apartment by KGB officers, a terrorist who was preparing terrorist attacks in the city was killed. The offender allegedly fired back from a machine gun and threw grenades.

However, there are many inconsistencies in the version of the authorities. For example, on the one hand, according to Lukashenka's statement, a “foreign terrorist that was thrown to us” was killed in Hrodna.

On the other hand, the special services report that the identity of this person has not been established. If it is not established, then how can one say something about the citizenship of an unknown person?

By the way, the passport of a Russian citizen was found on the victim. And he contacted the owner of the rented apartment in a messenger from a Russian number. And by the way, let me remind you that the detained “Ukrainian saboteur” who attacked the plane in Machulishchy came to Belarus from Russia. The facts themselves are interesting.

According to the official version, the killed terrorist was allegedly sent to Belarus from Poland. From the messages it is not entirely clear who is behind this sinister criminal: either the Belarusian “fugitives”, or the Polish services.

In general, the terrorist turned out to be very strange. He clumsily disguised himself, wearing conspicuous wigs that make a person very memorable for others. The offender also binged himself with the alcohol that taxi drivers brought him. Such a strange conspiracy. That is, he did everything to be remembered by as many people as possible.

Lukashenka praised the actions of the security forces, saying that they worked great. However, it is precisely the work of law enforcement agencies that raises a number of questions.

How could a criminal using a fake passport cross the Polish-Belarusian border? How could our valiant border guards make such a mistake?

According to the state media, the terrorist was being followed, watched. On March 18, an unknown man headed towards one of the caches with weapons on the 38th km of the Hrodna-Vostryna highway. A bag with a Kalashnikov assault rifle, cartridges for it and live grenades was hidden there. Having taken the weapon, he went to Hrodna to a rented apartment.

Where did the cache with a whole arsenal of weapons come from? Did he bring it from Poland? Then there are certain questions to the border guards. Now even the phones of people crossing the border are checked. And then there's the arsenal of weapons.

Or did they get the weapons here, in Belarus? Then there are certain questions to the KGB, which has a duty to search for terrorists (real, not invented) and illegal arms trafficking.

And about the operation itself. Aerobatics in the work of special services is when a criminal is detained quietly, calmly, without shots, so that he does not even have time to get a gun. And then they staged a real battle in the regional center, fired from a machine gun, threw grenades. Why was it necessary to storm the apartment if it could have been taken earlier, during the return to Hrodna? Moreover, to take him alive so that he tells who he is, who is behind him, where he got the weapon and much more. It doesn't take much to kill a person.

Therefore, if we proceed from the official version, then the whole operation is a grandiose failure of the security forces, the ultimate unprofessionalism. But the problem is that all special services have long been reoriented to fight the opposition, the protesters. To detain a peaceful man in the street, to beat him, to force him to repent on camera — that's what they learned to do. As for fighting with real terrorists (if that really was a terrorist), they have forgotten how to do it. Therefore, they staged a massacre in the city.

The opposition organization of former security officials believes that the entire operation to neutralize the criminal is a staging, and the role of the “terrorist” was performed by a KGB officer, whose name and photo they identified.

The version is interesting. But if we take it as a basis, then no less questions arise. For example, was the main defendant really killed, or is he actually more alive than all the living? And the most important question — why do the authorities need all this?

It is very likely that the authorities came up with everything after the fact, when events for some reason got out of control and began to develop in an unforeseen direction. It is no coincidence that the authorities reported the details of the incident in Hrodna only two days later. As if preparing a plausible version.

The authorities are trying to squeeze maximum political dividends from the events in Machulishchy and Hrodna. They strive to present the power structures in a heroic light, as defenders of the people from various villains.

On the other hand, these events undermined the mythology of a peaceful, calm country, where everything is under control. The country where order, peace, tranquility, stability and security reign. Two terrorist attacks in a month is too much. Belarus is turning into a dangerous place that is best avoided.
