He tried to kill an official of Melitopol city hall.
An agent of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, who made an attempt on one of the officials of the City Council of Melitopol, has been detained.
This was reported by the press service of the SSU, informs Censor.net.
Thus, the perpetrator waited for the official in the entrance of the residential building, and then hit him with a hammer on the head several times. Despite the numerous injuries the victim survived.
‘For conspiracy purposes, the intruder acted under the guise of a utility worker who was carrying out technical work in the apartment building where the official lived. After committing the crime, the defendant was preparing to flee to the temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhzhia region through the territory of the EU. In order to cross the state border, he planned to use one of the ‘schemes for evaders,’ stated the message.
The SSU established the location of the hired killer ‘hot on the trail’ and detained him while trying to escape.
The killer turned out to be a recidivist who lived in temporarily occupied Melitopol. The RF spotted him when, even before the full-scale invasion, he was serving a sentence in a Russian prison for premeditated murder.
‘In June 2024, he was finally recruited and sent to special training courses at the FSB training centre in the temporarily seized part of the region's territory. There, under the guidance of instructors of the Russian special service, the agent was engaged in firearms training, knife fighting techniques and practised conspiracy methods. The killer arrived in Zaporizhzhia, claiming to be a migrant, in order to fulfil the enemy's assignment. After arriving in the city, he began to track the addresses of work and residence of his victim, as well as the main routes of her movement,' noted the Security Service.
The man constantly changed addresses of rented premises to ‘cover his tracks’. He was communicating with his Russian handler via messenger.
In the case of killing the official, the Russians promised the man to hand him over a house in Melitopol, which belonged to local residents who had been forced to leave because of the occupation.
Now he is suspected under part 2 of article 111 (high treason committed under martial law), part 2 of article 15, part 2 of article 115 (attempted premeditated murder committed on commission).
The man faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
