The US Vice President accused Trump of preparing to capitulate.
US Vice President Kamala Harris said that she will not meet bilaterally with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to negotiate an end to the Russian war against Ukraine. She ruled out a peace process without Kyiv.
CNN reports this.
During an interview on the 60 Minutes show, the US Vice President and candidate for the post of head of state from the Democratic Party emphasized that "Ukraine must have a say in the future of Ukraine".
Harris also noted the importance of adhering to the United Nations Charter in the peace process to end Russian aggression against Ukraine.
"There will be no success in ending that war without Ukraine and the UN charter participating in what that success looks like," she said.
At the same time, Harris avoided answering whether she would support efforts to expand the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or NATO, to include Ukraine.
"Those are all issues that we will deal with if and when it arrives at that point. Right now, we are supporting Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against Russia’s unprovoked aggression," she said.
Harris also took note of Donald Trump's recent statements that Putin would not have launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine under his presidency.
According to her, if Trump were in the Oval Office, "Putin would be sitting in Kyiv right now."
"He talks about, oh, he can end it on day one. You know what that is? It’s about surrender," Harris said.
