On the morning of November 11, Russian troops shelled Kurakhove, Donetsk region. As a result, the Ternovskaya dam of the Kurakhove Reservoir was destroyed.
It is reported by RBC-Ukraine citing the News of Donbas and Suspilne Donbas.
According to sources of the News of Donbas, the water in the Vovcha River has risen by 1 meter. In villages located along the course of the river, the rise of water is recorded.
"We know that there is water in the villages located near the Ternovskaya Dam. We cannot confirm the nature of the damage or its level. We cannot check the dam due to constant shelling as of now," Roman Padun, the head of the Kurakhove Reservior, told Suspilnie.
According to him, there is evidence that the water is approaching the settlements of the Velika Novoselka community.
"We have in other settlements of the Velika Novoselka community that there is water there because if the locks open. We state that the dam is probably damaged," Padun added.
It is noted that the inspection of the place of the strike is complicated due to active battles in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions.
Depending on the degree of damage to the dam, there is a risk of partial flooding of settlements located below the Vovcha River: these are the villages of Stari Terny, Ulakli, Kostiantinopil, Andriivka, Alekseivka, Bohatyr, Zelenyi Uhol, Novoukrainka and a number of settlements in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
