The Russian Shahed Crashed Into High Residential Building In Belgorod

The moment of a powerful explosion hit the video.

A Shahed-type kamikaze drone used by Russia to attack Ukrainian cities crashed into a high-rise building in Belgorod, Russia, injuring several residents. The moment of a powerful explosion hit the security cameras, Obozrevatel writes.

This happened on November 5, but only now information about it has leaked to the Russian media. They stressed that the drone was of Ukrainian origin, as local authorities had previously stated.

It is noted that last Tuesday the drone hit a house on Kashtanova Street in the New Life microdistrict. The governor of the region blamed the AFU for the attack, saying that it injured two people, 40 apartments in three apartment buildings, 24 cars and a store.

Subsequently, a video with an “attack on the house” appeared, which, as it turned out, was specially cut in such a way as to hide the fact of “air defence work” over the neighborhood.

Now journalists of the Belgorod edition in Telegram said that they had found a new video of the strike – from a surveillance camera on the house opposite from the place of arrival. They admitted: these footage suggest that the house was attacked by the Russian Shahed.

"The video clearly shows the UAV, the silhouette of which is very similar to the Iranian Shahed-136 UAV, which the Russian army launches on the territory of Ukraine. This assault drone has a characteristic nose and triangular wings with blunt ends, which are clearly visible in the video from the surveillance camera,” the report reads.

According to this publication, on the day of the strike, the Belarusian media, citing "a number of Russian media", reported that the house in Belgorod "was attacked by a tactical Columba UAV". However, the new video shows that the drone has no similarities with this UAV.

These journalists refuted the assumption that "Ukraine could program a drone to turn around and hit the house from the conditionally "Russian" side".

"This makes no sense from the point of view of the logic of the strike – if the UAV was programmed to hit the house in the New Life, it could just as well hit it from the conditionally "Ukrainian" side of the building," the message reads.

The fact that it was exactly the Russian Shahed is indicated by reports in the Russian public on the day of the strike. Before the explosion and after, residents of Belgorod recorded the flight of Russian kamikaze drones over the territory of the region in the direction of Ukraine. They posted a lot of video confirmations.

"At that time, the Ukrainian authorities reported about the Shahed attack on Kharkiv. Taken together, this confirms the massive flight of Russian strike UAVs towards Ukraine at the time of the drone strike on the house in Belgorod," the authors say.

It is assumed that a particular "Shahed" allegedly incorrectly triggered the target selection system or the flight mission was incorrectly set. The latter may be evidenced by the fact that the Russian air defence system is working on one area.

"Perhaps the Russian military noticed that the UAV was flying incorrectly, and tried to shoot down their own drones. The air defence only worked over the New Life microdistrict. There are no photos in the Belgorod media with traces of air defence work over other areas of the city, and Belgorod residents stated that they heard only two explosions – an explosion of an air defense missile and a direct explosion from a blow to the house," Belgorod journalists stated.
