Belarusian Volunteer Gaz Killed In Ukraine

The fighter of the International Legion was 25 years old.

The death of Belarusian volunteer Gaz was reported by his friends on social networks. According to them, the funeral has already taken place, writes Nasha Niva.

Belarusian volunteer Gaz met the beginning of a full-scale war in Moscow. He lived there since the age of 16, when he moved to his father from his native Navapolatsk. The boy had both Belarusian and Russian citizenship.

At the time the war started, Gaz worked as a commercial development director in a car parts company. He noted that he was far from politics, even knew only superficially about the Belarusian protests-2020.

‘But it became unbearable to live in Russia: war propaganda was at every turn,’ Gaz told Zerkalo in a big interview.

As a result, he returned to Belarus in August 2022. Living in Navapolatsk, and then in Minsk, he realised himself a Belarusian patriot. And at the end of 2023 he finally decided to fight for Ukraine.

Gaz sent an application to the International Legion.

The family did not support the choice of the guy. His father, a Russian citizen, cut off contact with him. ‘My mum is Belarusian, she reacted like the most usual mum. Said it was dangerous, there were some tears at first, and then just acceptance. Now we talk to her, we bring up topics that were difficult for her before. And everything's fine. My grandmother used to say that I went to war solely for money, my aunt didn't support me either, she said it was wrong,’ Gaz said.

By the spring of 2024, when Gaz was interviewed by Zerkalo, he had already completed his preparatory courses and was taking part in combat operations. In between, he was learning how to operate FPV drones.

‘I realised straight away: this is mine. I'm very glad I have made this choice. My only regret is that I didn't go to Ukraine earlier,’ he said.
