Aleksandar Vucic promised to fulfil some of the demands.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic promised to fulfil some of the demands of protesters who have been gathering for over a month after a fatal accident at the railway station in the town of Novi Sad.

This was reported by the Reuters news agency.

In an address in the evening of Wednesday, December 11, Vucic promised to make public all the materials that the authorities and the prosecutor's office have regarding the repair of the railway station.

The Serbian president also promised to release those arrested during the protests and pardon anyone who might be convicted because of it in the future.

‘For these people who hear this noise, it's a noise of somewhere around 600 of them.... I respect and appreciate them very much,’ Vucic said, referring to the protesters who gathered under the government building.

We remind you that on November 1, the concrete canopy of the recently renovated roof of the railway station collapsed in Novi Sad. As a result, 14 people died on the spot, another victim later died in hospital.

Following the disaster, opposition parties, students and the public took to the streets, accusing the government of corruption, negligence and cronyism that led to faulty construction.
